Blog Spot – Metamorphosis (Alison Leishman)

Metamorphosis.

John 3:3 & 2 Corinthians 5:17

Larvae,
Earth-bound grubbing along,
Legs in motion,
going now-where fast.
Head down,
mandible working overtime,
Self- focused, endless consumer.
Concerned with self- preservation,
Camouflaged.
The freedom of the sky, a world away
Ignorant of transforming potential,
Or deep within perhaps,
a sense of there being something
more to life.
Divine timing steps in,
to Creator’s transforming purpose;
self- surrenders,
spinning cocoon- encasement.
Soul rests,
wrapped in Grace,
Mercy weaves His mystery,
Life changing, refashioning works from within.
A gentle laying down or internal wrestle?
Radical re-shaping.
He alone sees
The chrysalis womb as hard as a tomb,
waits.
Cracks, splitting encasement
Constraints burst open,
Completed creation staggers out.
Death and a laying down
Rises to a new life.
Rebirthing becomes a reality.
Emerging, stretching, uncertain
Struggling out into sun and air,
Paper fine wings flex,
Pump beautiful velvet colours,
Vibrant glow, along life- giving veins,
Breeze dries and strengthens.
New purpose, new horizons
Fills tec-ni-coloured vision;
Blossoms into a field of possibility,
nectar for the tasting.
Vast skies of freedom beckoning,
Wings wink,
flit and dance in glory,
Rising- up,
in a flight of praise.
Metamorphosis complete.
